Nadia Comaneci, (born November 12th of November, 1961 Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej [now Onesti(born November 12, 1961 in Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej, now One Romania) Romanian gymnast who was the first gymnast in history to get a flawless score of 10 during an Olympic competition. Bela Karrolyi was the Romanian gymnastics trainer who became Comaneci's coach in later years, discovered her at age six. She first competed at the championships for juniors from Romania in 1969, she was 13th. And in 1970, won. Her first ever international competition in 1972, she won the event by winning three gold awards. At her first competitive event at a senior level Lyudmila Turkishcheva from Russia took home five gold medals, as well being awarded a silver.
